GCU vice chancellor asks youth to develop leadership qualities

Government College University (GCU Lahore) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Asghar Ali Zaidi asked youth to develop leadership qualities and become harbingers of change at the national and international level.

Speaking after the oath-taking ceremony of the Incredible Youth Society office-bearers at the university’s Youth Development Center, he said that youth cannot be ignored as they were Pakistan’s future and were sixty eight percent of the total population.

Addressing the young audience, Incredible Youth Society Chief Executive Officer Syed Farhan Ali Shah said that Pakistan will make progress through educating young people besides development of their skills and good employment opportunities.

Incredible Youth Society President Ahmad Sipra, Senior Vice President Jannat Zahid, Vice President Zunaira Rahman, General Secretary Muhammad Raza Jaffary, Information Secretary Laiba Ahsaan, and Umaima Ameen were also present on the occasion.

“We are working for peace, tolerance and acceptance, education, science, health, women empowerment, career path, tourism, cultural heritage, human rights, minority rights and other key issues,” said Farhan Ali Shah who is also a life coach, motivational speaker and trainer.

“We are world’s second country with highest number of youth population,” he said, adding that the young people were viewed as a key factor behind social and political changes around the world. He also said that considering young people an asset means taking complete benefit of their energies and potentials.

He said that Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had high hopes from youth and he stressed upon young people’s vision in life. “You are the nation’s leaders of tomorrow and you must fully equip yourself by discipline, education and training for the hard task lying ahead of you,” he quoted Quaid-i-Azam’s statement about the young people.

“Pakistan’s future is pinned on our young people who have to steer this nation forward with positive thinking,” he said. “We have undertaken various initiatives to cater aspirations of our younger generation,” he said, adding the Incredible Youth Society will facilitate youngsters in all their endeavors and help out in their tasks and projects through the circle of fellowship.
