Hina Khar, Kuwaiti envoy open photo exhibition, unveil memorial logo

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Kuwait organize a joint event in Islamabad to mark 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar hailed the historic relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait which had been cemented over the past six decades.

She was speaking as a chief guest at a joint event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Kuwait to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the State of Kuwait.

Hina Khar highlighted the deep-seated nature of relations between the two countries, characterized by fraternal ties, common aspirations and values as well as bright prospects for future cooperation. A commemorative logo of the 60th Anniversary was unveiled in the joint event.

A photo exhibition was also inaugurated by the minister of state, depicting various aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries as well as high-level exchanges. Representatives of the diplomatic corps, and government officials, the business community, academia, media, and civil society attended the joint event.

Kuwait Ambassador Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi also mentioned the history of brotherly relations between the two countries and its people, spanning over sixty years. Kuwait hosts a significant Pakistani diaspora playing a critical role in the development and prosperity of both nations.

Addressing the event, he conveyed the best regards of the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government and people, to Pakistan. He said that the two countries enjoyed stable and growing relations, and were characterized by the two countries standing by each other.

He recalled that Pakistan stood by the Kuwaiti right in 1990, during the Iraqi invasion and Kuwait stood by Pakistan in the events of the 2005 earthquake, the 2010 floods and the recent floods. He also mentioned that Pakistan stood by Kuwait and supported it during the Covid-19 pandemic by sending specialized medical teams.

“We are looking forward to developing relations between our two countries, which are moving in the right direction, and there is a common well to develop these distinguished relations and cooperation to wider horizons,” the ambassador said. This great ceremony will be a motivation for us to launch this relationship on more solid foundations in the future.”

The Kuwaiti ambassador presented the state minister with a gift of a model of ship in connection with the anniversary celebrations that would mark a number of high-level events and exchanges throughout the year.
