University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi urged educational community, members of civil society, and traders to join hands and collectively contribute to the strengthening of important national institutions such as this public sector university.
Addressing Guardian ceremony in Muzaffarabad City, he emphasized need for collaborative efforts in the nation-building. He highlighted the significant progress made by the university in recent years through institutional reforms and improved infrastructure, fostering an environment conducive to learning.
The vice-chancellor acknowledged the persistent attempts by vested interests to tarnish the university’s reputation and discourage its administration by spreading baseless accusations. In light of this, he called upon socially conscious citizens to come forward and counteract these negative forces in the greater national interest.
Expressing appreciation for the efforts of Guardian in student welfare, he urged the education-focused organization – that provides financial assistance to underprivileged students – to continue their current interventions and raise awareness among students about the scholarship opportunities available at this university.
The event included screening of a documentary showcasing the progress achieved by the university. Distinguished speakers, including Dean of Social Sciences Prof Dr Syed Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Pakistan Red Crescent Society Secretary Gulzar Fatima, director of SOS Village, prominent businessmen, and Muzaffarabad City Councilor Rashid Awan, and Director of Students Affairs Dr Imtiaz Awan also addressed the gathering.
Last week, the vice-chancellor revealed a plan to host a state-level declamation contest among AJK universities in October or November this year. This grand event will serve as a platform for the talented students to demonstrate their prowess and represent their respective institutions at the regional level.
He commended exceptional potential of young people and highlighted importance of providing an enabling environment and mentorship to these youngsters to excel regionally and nationally. He shared his unwavering commitment to enhancing the university’s educational infrastructure, fostering an empowering environment, and promoting enriching activities like declamation contests and sports.
